4 Sep 1918: | Honoured Military Medal, At Peronne on September 1st 1918, he carried his gun forward with the advancing Infantry and despite the fact that the remainder of his crew became casualties set his gun in a good defensive position and immediately reported to the O.C. line. As targets were then offering but he volunteered to bring in wounded going out into No Mans Land on several occasions. His coolness and contempt of danger were an inspiration to all.
