Basil was the third of six children of John Andrew Molloy (born 1882 in Ipswich, QLD) and Emily Rose Brown (born 1888 in Ipswich, QLD). John was a Hairdresser in Newtown, Ipswich QLD in 1910 when he married Emily. John and Emily lived in Ipswich, where John was a Hairdresser until his death in 1960.
Basil was working as a Shop Assistant in Ipswich, QLD when he enlisted in the Army in March 1941. He was a Craftsman (Service No:Q148126) attached to 298 Australian Light Aid Detachment when he was Discharged in January 1946.
In 1942 Basil married Hairdresser Audrey Margaret West (born 1921 in Surrey, England). Audrey was seven years of age when her family immigrated to Brisbane, QLD, arriving on board the Oronsay in October 1928. Basil and Audrey settled in Ipswich, QLD where Basil worked as a PMG Linesman after the War. Basil died in 1992 and Audrey died in 1995.
