Eric (Heck) was the eldest of three children of Samuel (Joe E Brown) Molloy (born 1898 in Ipswich, QLD) and Alice Malvina Harvey (born 1896 in Ipswich, QLD). Samuel - a Coal Miner - was said to look like Joe E Brown from the comics of the era. He was known as a gambler, piano player and cyclist, and married Alice in 1916 in Ipswich, QLD.
Eric was working as a Mill Hand in Ipswich when he enlisted in the ACMF in September 1940. He served as a Sapper (Service No:Q59828) and was attached to W and P Section when he was Discharged in December 1941. Younger brother Mervyn Samuel (Service No:QX58592/Q128385) served in WWI and Uncle Ernest James Munt (Service Nos:8954, Q187592) served in both wars.
Eric was working as a Mill Hand in Ipswich, QLD in 1944 when he married Gladys May Brooks (born 1920 in Ipswich, QLD). Eric and Gladys settled at Peaks Crossing in Harrisvale, Boonah, QLD where Eric worked as a Tractor Driver, Labourer, Blacksmith's Striker and Storekeeper. Gladys died in 2009 and Eric in 2013.
