Add my storyBiography contributed by Chris Buckley
Arthur was the fourth of seven children of William John Nobbs (born 1860 in Hampshire, England) and Eleanor (Ellen) Whiskin (born 1860 in London, England). William - a Labourer - married Ellen in 1880 in London.
Arthur worked as a Labourer in London before immigrating to Australia in 1911, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the Militiades. Arthur was working as a Labourer at Howard, Wide Bay, QLD in 1923 when he married Louisa Gertrude Jaenke (born 1900 at Cooroy in Wide Bay, QLD). Arthur and Gertrude lived in Maroochydore and Childers, where Arthur was a Labourer, before settling at Kilkivan in Wide Bay and Dairy Farming.
Arthur served with the ACMF as a Private (Service No:Q209983) with 20 Battalion Volunteer Defence Corps (QLD) from 1942 to 1944.
He and Louisa continued Dairy Farming at Kilkivan until 1950 when they moved to Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast, where Arthur worked as a Forestry Overseer. He and Louisa retired to Caloundra, where Louisa died in 1968. In 1980 Arthur moved to Nambour, where he died in 1983.
