William (aka Edward) was the eldest child of William Baden Powell Nosworthy (b1900 in Crookwell, Goulburn, NSW) and Violet May Taylor (b1902 in Brisbane, QLD). William - a Labourer - and Violet married in Brisbane in 1921 and settled there to raise their family. William worked as a Carter, Painter and Packer.
William - a Plymill Hand - enlisted in the ACMF in June 1940 (Private; Service No:Q151163) and was attached to LoC MT Training Depot when he Discharged in 1942 to enlist with the AIF. William served (Gunner; Service No:QX8593) with 2/2 Tank Attack Regiment in the Middle East (18 October 1940 - 24 March 1942), Northern Territory (5 June 1944 - 5 September 1944) and New Guinea (28 September 1942 - 28 October 1943, 9 June 1945 - 15 October 1945). William was Discharged in October 1945. Sister Cynthia (Snow) May (Aircraftwoman; Service No:99087) and Brothers-in - Law Leslie William Morgan Bentley (Corporal; Service Nos:QX42004/Q14357) and Ivor (Mick) Henry Morgan Bentley (Lance Corporal; Service Nos:QX41492/Q151163) also served in WWII.
In 1941 William married Winifred Millicent Frances Bentley (b1921 in Brisbane, QLD). William and Winifred settled in Brisbane where William was a Plywood Worker and Storeman. William died in 1964 and Winifred in 2017.
