Kenneth (Digger) was the fourth of seven children of Edward Oliver (born 1892 in Mackay, QLD) and Florence Cordelia Luscombe (born 1898 in Mackay, QLD). Edward was a Lorryman in Mackay in 1918 when he married Florence. They settled in Mackay where Edward worked as a Lorryman and Timber Yard Foreman.
Digger was 18 years of age when he enlisted in the Australian Army in June 1943. He served as a Private (Service No:QX52167) with 2/16 Infantry Battalion and was Discharged in September 1946. Brothers James Thomas (Service No:NX2561), Edward John (Service No:4538) and Lewis William (Service No:QX29217), and Brothers-in-Law Samuel William Swann (Service No:QX10449), Edmund Joseph Swann (Service No:QX16907), Albert James Daniel Swann (Service No:Q104009), Arthur Newbery Swann (Service No:43461), and Alfred Mansfield Holloway (Service Nos:Q66175/Q122233/QX39483) also served in WWII.
Digger settled in Brisbane, QLD and was working as a Barman at the City View Hotel when he married Jessie Olive Brown (nee Swann, born 1925 at Millmerran on the Darling Downs in QLD) in the late 1950s. Digger and Jessie lived at Stafford in Brisbane, QLD where Digger worked as a Barman. He died in 1995 and Jessie in 2001.
