Previously had served four years with the Royal Navy Medical Corps.
17 August 1914 - enlisted at Randwick, NSW, with the 2nd Battalion with the rank of Private
13 May 1915 - transferred to Oamaniah as Batman to Captain Kane
Returned to Australia on 17 July 1915 aboard HS Kyarra
19 January 1916 - discharged at the 2nd Military District
