Aidan was the third of seven children of Michael Peter Pender (b1878 in Ipswich, QLD) and Bridget Molloy (b1885 in Ipswich, QLD). Michael - a Solicitor (admitted to the Queensland Supreme Court in 1907) and Bridget married in 1915 in Ipswich, QLD where they raised their family.
Aidan was a Clerk in 1941 when he enlisted in the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q148110). He was attached to General Details Depot when he was Discharged in May 1943. Brother Paul Anselm (Corporal; Service Nos:Q108244/QX63645) also served in WWII. Aidan's two other brothers - Gervase and Virgil - were Catholic priests.
Aidan remained in Ipswich, QLD, and stated his occupation as 'Soldier' in Electoral Rolls until his death in 1974.
