Private Arthur Henry Petfield (Service No:Q200516) served in the ACMF with 1 Battalion VDC (QLD) from 1 May 1942 to 21 October 1945.

Born in 1912 in Brisbane QLD, Arthur was the eldest of four children of Arthur Petfield (b1888 in Brisbane, QLD) and Florence Jane Mott (b1887 in Brisbane, QLD). Arthur Snr (a Carpenter) and Florence married in 1912 in Brisbane, QLD where they settled and raised their family and Arthur Snr was a Carpenter and Builder.

Arthur started work as a Junior Cost Clerk at QLD Can Coy and worked his way up as Accountant to Managing Director/Chairman by 1958. In 1937 in Brisbane QLD, Arthur married Elsie Emily Mylchreest (b1914 in Gladstone, QLD). Arthur and Emily settled in Brisbane where they raised their family and Arthur was recognised as a leader across industries and for his involvement with community and charitable organisations. In 1968 he was named as a Knight Bachelor in the Queen's Birthday Honours ( QLD Government House, 1968) 'for services to industrial development and the community'. Sir Petfield served on diverse Boards, including the Overseas Telecommunications Commission (1963 - 1968: Commissioner and Chairman until his death in 1974). Sir Petfield died in 1974 and Lady Petfield in 2002.
