Captain Colin David Petfield (Service No:QX43187) initially enlisted in the ACMF as a Private (Service No:Q191760) attached to AASC Northern Command. As a Lieutenant, he enlisted in the AIF on 21 October 1942 and was promoted to Captain on 17 January 1945. Captain Petfield served in Borneo ( 1945/1946) and was attached to HQ 33 Infantry Brigade at Discharge on 9 January 1946.

Colin was born in Brisbane, QLD in 1919, the third of four children of Arthur Petfield (b1888 in Brisbane, QLD) and Florence Jane Mott (b1887 in Brisbane, QLD). Arthur (a Carpenter) and Florence married in 1912 in Brisbane QLD where they settled and raised their family and Arthur worked as a Carpenter and Builder.

Colin worked as a Clerk in Brisbane and in 1940 he married Isabella Campbell (b1916 in Brisbane, QLD). Following his Discharge in 1946, Colin and Isabella lived in Brisbane where Colin was a Clerk before moving to Tara nr Miles QLD in the 1950s, where they settled and raised their family and Colin was a Manager. In the early 1970s Colin and Isabella moved to Toowoomba, QLD where Colin worked as a Manager. Colin died in 1983 and Isabella in 1996.
