Private Ernest Edward Petfield (Service No:Q44947) initially enlisted in the Militia on 20 August 1940 (AASC Northern Command) before enlisting in the ACMF on 9 October 1941. Private Petfield served with 15 Battalion, 31 and 9 Works Coys and 7 Field Ambulance before Discharge on 7 August 1945.

Born in Brisbane, QLD in 1916, Ernest was the second of four children of Arthur Petfield (b1888 in Brisbane, QLD) and Florence Jane Mott (b1887 in Brisbane, QLD). Arthur (a Carpenter) and Florence married in 1912 in Brisbane, QLD where they settled and raised their family and Arthur worked as a Carpenter and Builder.

Ernest was working in Brisbane as a Joiner in 1935 when he married Gladys Violet Nicoll (b1916 in Rockhampton, QLD). Ernest and Gladys settled in Brisbane where they raised their family and Ernest worked as a Carpenter. Ernest died in 1997 and Gladys in 2006.
