Herbert was the second of six children of Charles John Kubler (born 1870 at Walloon, near Ipswich, QLD) and first wife Anna (Annie) Wilhelmine Henriette Holdorf (born 1873 in Brisbane, QLD), Charles - a Farmer at Boonah in QLD - and Annie married in 1892 in Boonah and raised their family in the Fassifern Valley at Boonah near Ipswich, QLD. Annie died in 1903 and Charles remarried in 1909.
Herbert was a Labourer at Kalbar in the Fassifern Valley, Boonah, QLD when he enlisted in the AIF in March 1917. He served as a Private (Service No:3316) witht he 41st Infantry Battalion and was Discharged in April 1919. Brother-in-Law Henry George Roberts (Service No:5902) served in WWi, and Brother-in-Law Thomas Liptrott (Service No:NX78990), half brother Clifford Kubler (Service No:QX385) and nephew Raymond White (RAN, Service No:B4020) served in WWII.
Returning to Boonah, Herbert was working as a Labourer in 1922 when he married Susan Sarah ann Pennell (born 1899 at Kalbar in Boonah, QLD). Herbert and Sarah settled at Kalbar in Boonah QLD where Herbert worked as a Labourer. Herbert died in 1965 and Sarah died in 1972.
