Stanley was the youngest of five children of Thomas Henry Prentice (b1876 in Murtoa, Victoria) and Marie Amelia Pauline Rohde (b1882 in Crosshill, QLD). Thomas worked as a Miner and Timber Cutter in Kalgoorlie and Marie was a Cook in Norseman WA when they married in 1911 in WA. Thomas and Marie lived in Donnybrook, Dwellingup and Claymore in WA before moving to Victoria in the mid 1910's, where Thomas died in 1918. Marie moved to Oakey on the Darling Downs in QLD.
Stanley was a Labourer in Toowoomba, QLD when he enlisted in the Australian Army in March 1941 (Private; Service No:QX16863) and was Discharged in April 1941. In 1943 Stanley was a Factory Worker in Toowoomba, QLD when he married Mary Dawn Greer (b1916 in Brisbane, QLD). Stanley and Mary lived in Toowoomba where Stanley was a Factory Worker before moving to Jondaryan on the Darling Downs in 1950 where Stanley was a Farmer. By the 1960s the family had returned to Toowoomba where Stanley worked as a Moulder before moving to the Nerang/Gold Coast Region in QLD. Stanley worked briefly as a Labourer before retiring. Stanley died in 1993 and Mary in 2003.
