Robert was the third child of Andrew Quinn (born 1884 in Bundaberg, QLD) and Nellie Read (born 1889 in Bundaberg, QLD).
Robert was a Labourer (Cane Cutter) in Bundaberg when he enlisted - initially in the ACMF as a Private (Q71918) - with the Australian Army in 1943 as a Corporal (Q135613) with 49 Battalion. He served in New Guinea and was Discharged in 1945.
Robert's brother Lawrence Frederick Quinn served in WWII (QX10993), his Uncle Robert Read served in WWI (SN 4587) and cousins Mervyn Frederick Read (Q42456) and Dudley Allan Read (Q76837); and Arthur Leslie Beyers (QX44208) and Charles Nicholas Beyer (QX53303) also served in WWII
Robert returned to Bundaberg and in 1948 married Clarice Joyce Keyworth (born 1924 in Bundaberg, QLD). Robert and Clarice remained in Bundaberg, QLD where Robert worked as a Labourer until his death. Clarice died in 2002
