Charles (born 1906 in Brisbane, QLD) was the youngest of eleven children of Ralph Henry reis (born 1861 in Hobart, Tasmania) and Agnes Brown (born 1862 in Hobart, Tasmania). Ralph and Agnes married in Tasmania in 1886 and moved to Sydney, NSW then on to Brisbane, QLD by 1893.

Charles lived and worked in Brisbane as a Mechanic before enlistin in the Australian Army in January 1942, He served as a Craftsman (Service No: QX39852(Q123854) with 134 Brigade Workshop and was Discharged in February 1946.

Charles was living in Coorparoo in Brisbane QLD and working as a Mechanic when he married Alberta Maud Barker (born 1903 in Helidon on the Darling Downs in QLD) in 1958. Alberta had served with the Australian Army Wome's Medical Services as a Sergeant during WWII, and was working as a Typist.

Charles and Alberta continued to live in Brisbane, QLD where Charles worked as a Mechanic until 1974, when they retired to Caloundra on the Sunshine Coast in QLD. Charles died in 1982 and Alberta in 1996
