The details provided are taken from the book "1000 Men at War" the History of the 2nd/16th Infantry Battalion, 1st Edition published 1959, reference at page 10. Robert was born 16th Oct 1916 at Inverell NSW. Prior to the war he was a salesman of Brisbane Qld. He enlisted in Queensland, but was transferred to the 2nd/16th Battalion. He was a musician with the band, but also wore the rank of Warrant Officer class 1, and during his service with the 2nd/16th he was awarded a Mention in Dispatches (MID).
