William (Bill) Ivor was the fifth of six children of Daniel Ritchie (born 1876 in Lanarkshire, Scotland) and Mary Jane Clee (born 1873 in Wales). Daniel was nine years of age when he joined his parents in Australia, arriving in Maryborough, QLD in care of the ship's Matron in December 1866 on board the Selkirkshire. Mary Jane arrived in Maryborough, QLD with her mother, step father and siblings in 1882 on board the Western Monarch. Daniel was a Miner at Torbanlea in QLD when he married Mary Jane in 1899 at Howard, Wide Bay, QLD. Daniel and Mary Jane settled at Torbanlea near Howard, Wide Bay, QLD where they raised their family.

In 1932 William was a Miner at Howard, Wide Bay, QLD when he married Midias Leah May Hewlett (born 1911 in Howard, Wide Bay, QLD). William and Midias settled in Howard and in January 1942 William enlisted in the Australian Military Forces. He was a Sapper (Service No:Q106874) attached to 16 Field Coy RAE when he was Discharged in January 1945.

William and Midias remained in Howard, Wide Bay, QLD where William worked as a Miner until the early 1950s when he became a Carpenter. William died in 1976 and Midias in 1993.
