Eric Robert Roach
Eric Robert Roach (24 February 1921 • Bundamba, Ipswich, QLD - 29 August 1978 • Ipswich, QLD) was married to Ruth Hardie (youngest daughter of George E Hardie and Jessie Rankin Kitching of Ipswich, QLD. Eric was brother - in - law to Charles, Walter Sydney and Douglas James Hardie.
Eric, 20 years of age when he enlisted, served with the Australian Army from 13 May 1941 to 3 December 1945 and was a Private/Gunner (Service No: QX45043 (Q108028) with 2AIF 6 Australian Camp Hospital.
On his return to Australia, Eric worked as a Male Nurse in Ipswich, QLD

Eric was the eldest of three children of Philip (Phil) Robert Roach (born 1892 in Ipswich, QLD) and Mary Pringle (born 1895 in Bundanba, Ipswich, QLD). Phil was a Labourer and Mary a Seamstress when they married in 1920 in Ipswich, QLD. They moved to Oxley, Brisbane, QLD in the early 1920s where Phil worked as a Labourer.
Eric was working as a Hospital Attendant (Mental) in May 1941 when he enlisted in the Army. He was a Private (Service Nos:QX45043/Q108028) attached to 6 Australian Camp Hospital when he was Discharged in December 1945. Brothers-in-Law Alexander Hardie (Private, Service No:N154070), Charles Hardie (Corporal, QX26629), Walter Sydney Hardie (Private, Service No:Q46435), and Douglas James Hardie (Private, Service No:QX12515) also served in WWII.
In July 1945 Eric married Ruth Hardie (born 1919 in Ipswich, QLD) - Ruth was a Machinist. Eric and Ruth settled in Ipswich to raise their family, and Eric worked as a Male Nurse. He died in 1978 and Ruth in 2011.
