Ivan was born in Indooroopilly Brisbane, the only child of Humphrey and Ivy (nee Livesey).

He enlisted in 1941 and was discharged on 28 Aug 1945. He had initially joined the militia on 23 Aug 1940 and then transferred to the 2nd/AIF on 21 may 1943.

Ivan and his wife Vera raised a family of five children in Townsville, they are Robert, Ian , John, Victoria and William.

Sadly Ivan passed on 25 May 1984 aged 66 years.
