George was the only child of John Thomas Robinson (b1883 in Derbyshire, England) and Isabella Wilhelmina Fairbairn (b1882 in Scotland). John (a Schoolmaster) and Isabella married in 1906 in Yorkshire. Following their Divorce, Isabella was living in Aberdeen, Scotland and working as a Photographer's Assistant when she married Thomas Clacher Smith (b1880 in Esk Valley, QLD) - Thomas was serving in the AIF (Private; Service No:2392). Thomas and Isabella settled in Dulong, Nambour in QLD. Thomas also served in WWII (Corporal; Service No:Q164894).

George was a Labourer in Nambour when he married Margaret Delsie Olive Wickerson (b1917 in Nambour, QLD) in 1939. George and Margaret were living in Brisbane where George was working as a Wharf Labourer when he enlisted in the Australian Army in June 1940. He served as a Private (Service No:QX9211) with 2/25th Infantry Battalion in the Middle East (September 1940 - February 1941). By October 1942 he was a Warrant Officer II and served with HQ NT Force in Darwin (January 1944 - November 1944). George was atatched to LHQ School of Army Cooking and Catering when he was Discharged in September 1945.

Following his Discharge, George and Margaret settled in Brisbane where George worked as a Salesman and Meat Worker. After Margaret's death in 1964 George retired to Eumundi near Nambour, and later moved to Torquay in Hervey Bay where he died in 1977.
