Born on 22nd September 1919 in Ipswich, Queensland, Walter Douglas SCHAFFER was the youngest of five children born to Albert John and Mary (née FEHLBERG) SCHAFFER. Walter married Evelyn Daisy SCHULTZ at St Paul's Church of England Ipswich, on 14th November 1942.
