Eldest of the three brothers (Pan and Jim) who served in WWII, Private Leslie Sheehan (Service No:Q207612) served in the ACMF with 10 Battalion (QLD) VDC from 19 April 1942 to 21 October 1945.
Les was born in Bundaberg QLD in 1905, eldest of fifteen children of William Sheehan (b1877 in Brisbane QLD) and Louisa Bertha Walk (b1885 in Bundaberg QLD). William was a Labourer in 1905 when he and Louisa married in Bundaberg. They settled at Barolin via Bundaberg, where they raised their family and William was a Sugar Cane Farmer. Louisa died in 1931 and William in 1938.
Les, a Farm Labourer in Bundaberg, was a competitive cyclist and in 1924 won the three mile championship at Dallarnil. In 1928 Les married Hilda Elizabeth Rennie (b1902 in Bundaberg, QLD), and the couple settled in Barolin via Bundaberg where they raised their family and Les was a Sugar Cane and Dairy Farmer. Hilda died in 1960 and Les in 1976.
