Obituary
Dorothy Diana Wright, wife of Leonard James Wright passed away in Proserpine Nursing Home on Saturday, 26th August, 1995. She was born Dorothy Diana Shepherd in Clermont, 72 years ago. Her early years were spent in Farleigh. During the war years her family moved to Ipswich. In 1943 Dorothy joined the Australian Women’s Army as a storewoman until 1945. On her return home she took up psychiatric nursing.
Dorothy renewed her friendship with Len Wright, who she later married. She had 7 children & is survived by 6 of them, & 16 grandchildren. Len & Dorothy shifted to Rise & Shine in 1958 & bought their 1st cane farm. In 1966 they bought a farm at Preston, where farming was a lot easier. On retirement they went to Midge Point where Leonard predeceased her in 1983. One of Dorothy’s last enjoyable occasions was when the troop train came through town a few weeks ago She stood on the platform & shook hands with all & sundry. It brought back many fond memories. Her funeral service took place on Tuesday, 29th August in St Pauls Anglican Church. Fr Keith Felgate & Fr Arthur Chauntler conducted the church & graveside services.
