Glen was the third of four children of Thomas Smith (b1874 in Nanango, QLD) and Jane Gardner (b1883 in Ipswich, QLD). Thomas (a Harness Maker) and Jane married in 1908 in Ipswich, QLD qnd settled in Nanango where they raised their family. Thomas worked as a Labourer and Farmer.
Glen was a Farm Hand in Nanango when he enlisted in the ACMF in March 1941 (Private; Service No:Q4055). In June 1943 he enlisted with the AIF and was a Private (Service No:QX54859) attached to 47 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in October 1944. Brother Jack Noel (Sergeant: Service No:Q75735) also served in WWII.
In 1941 Glen married Ethel Lottie Wyatt (b1899 in Southport, QLD). They settled in Nanango where Glen was a Farm Hand at Melba Dale until 1960. Glen and Ethel moved into Nanango and Glen worked as a Herdsman. Following Ethel's death in 1967, Glen remarried Edith Joyce Wesener (aka Joyce; b1928 in Kilcoy, QLD) in Nanango. Glen died in 2010 and Joyce in 2017.
