Private John William Stapleton (Service No:QX22789) initially enlisted in the Militia as a Trooper (Service No:74947) with 2nd/14th Light Horse Regiment. He enlisted in the AIF on 13 August 1941 and was attached to 10 Vehicle Park Workshop at Discharge on 25 March 1946.
Born in 1922 in Nambour QLD, Jack was the second of five children of Albert Roy Achilles Stapleton MM (b1898 in Charters Towers, QLD) and Lucy Emily Boyce (b1900 in Ipswich, QLD). Albert (a Labourer) and Lucy married in 1921 in Brisbane and moved to Nambour where Albert worked as a Labourer before becoming a Farmer in the 1930s. Albert served in WWI (Private; Service No:7054) and WWII (Lance Corporal; Service No:Q90466).
Jack worked as a Labourer in Nambour, QLD and was in Adelaide, South Australia when he married Elva Dorothy Waite (nee Pilcher; b1916 in Adelaide, South Australia. Elva died in 1982 and Jack in 1988.
