Corporal Norman Lord Stewart (Service No:Q126684) enlisted in the Army on 6 February 1942 and was attached to Area Staff 25A Toowoomba. Corporal Stewart served in Rabaul (November/December 1945) and was attached to Army Recruiting Staff QLD L of C Area at Discharge on 8 February 1946.

Born in Brisbane, QLD in 1908, Norman was seventh of eight children of William Mutch Stewart (b1866 in Aberdeenshire, Scotland) and Fanny Lord (b1867 in Ipswich, QLD). William immigrated with his Uncle and cousins in 1886, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the New Guinea. William - a Farm Labourer in Scotland - and Fanny married in 1895 in Dalby, QLD. William was employed by QLD Railways, and he and Fanny lived in Dalby, Brisbane, Bundamba, Mahar Junction via Dalby and Macalister via Charleville, and in Toowoomba, where they raised their family and William was Stationmaster.

Norman worked as a Clerk in Toowoomba where, in 1938, he married Mary (Nell) Ellen Reynolds (b1909 in Toowoomba, QLD). Norman and Nell settled in Toowoomba, where they raised their family and Norman worked as Clerk until his death in 1966. Nell died in 2000.
