Niall Joseph MULLARKEY was born in Sydney on 28th March, 1895
His parents were Frederick Patrick MULLARKEY & Elizabeth Agnes ENGLISH who married in Sydney in 1884
He had previously served in St Josephs College Trainees (CMF) before enlisting on 28th August, 1914 to serve during WW1 in the 1st Infantry Battalion.
He was selected in Egypt to attend the Zeitoun School and commissioned to the 7th Battalion of the Royal Munster Fusiliers on 19th April, 1915. He was appointed Machine Gun Officer and went to Serbia & took part in the retreat. He was transferred to the AIF and rejoined the 1st Infantry Battalion as a 2nd Lieutenant on 19th September 1916 at the Somme & was Killed in Action at Flers on 5th November, 1916.
