George departed Sydney on 23rd Oct 1915 per SS 'Hawkes Bay' with 12th Reinforcements 7th Light Horse later with 8th Battery 3rd F.A.B. serving in both Egypt from 28 Dec 1915 & France from 27 Jan 1917 until Feb 1919.
He returned to Australia per 'Boonah' leaving England April 1919 arriving Australia Jun 1919 and then he was discharged 03 Aug 1919
George married his pre-war friend Ruby Williams the year after his return from overseas. Her letter is held in his Australian War Memorial records, and the couple went on to have two sons
