 George William Tapp, born in Barnsley, Yorkshire in 1874, arrived in Brisbane, Queensland Australia on 25 August 1885 on board the  Wistow Hall. George lived and worked as a Coal Miner in Ipswich QLD, and in 1900 was a Wheeler at Stockton Colliery in Newcastle, New South Wales.

Returning to Ipswich, QLD in 1902, George worked as a Coal Miner and married Rosanna Lavina Price in 1902 in Ipswich, QLD.

In 1911, George and his family were in Ipswich, QLD where George was working as an Assurance Agent. He continued this employment when he moved to Toowoomba in the Darling Downs, QLD in 1913.

George enlisted in 1915 in the AIF 7th Battalion 2nd Australian Remount uNit as a Private (Service No: 2030) and served in Heliopolis, Port Said, and Moascar. He was a Sergeant on his Discharge in 1919.

Wife  Rosanna died in 1916, and following WWI, George lived and worked in Maryborough QLD as an Insurance Inspector. In 1921 George married Emma Layt in Bundaberg, QLD where he worked as a Book Seller. 

Wife Emma died in Bundaberg in 1934, and in 1940 George enlisted in the Australian Army with Australian Int Corps, serving as a Corporal (Service No: Q380) until his Discharge in 1941

George was living in Bundamba, Ipswich, QLD and working as a Storeman in 1943, and in 1949 was Assistant Time Keeper with Mount Isa Mines in Cloncurry. George died in Innisfail, Qld in 1952
