Sapper Jacob Tapp (Service Nos:QX53685/Q107340) initially served in the ACMF from 22 December 1941 to 2 June 1943 with 24 Field Coy RAE. Sapper Tapp was 'in the field' in New Guinea when he enlisted in the AIF on 3 June 1943 - he served in New Guinea from 5 July 1942 to 19 January 1944. Sapper Tapp was attached to 24 Field Coy RAE at Discharge on 23 October 1945.

Born in 1913 in Ipswich QLD, Jake was eldest of two children of Robert Tapp (b1890 in Ipswich, QLD) and Eveline Elsie Norrish (b1896 in Gympie, QLD). Robert (a Miner) and Eveline married in 1913 in Ipswich, QLD where they settled and raised their family and Robert worked as a Miner and Council Labourer.

Jake started work as a Labourer in Ipswich, where in 1941 he married Laura Mary Collett (b1915 in Ipswich, QLD) - Laura was a Factory Hand. Jake and Laura settled in Ipswich, QLD where they raised their family and, following his Discharge, Jake worked as a Brick Machinist. Jake died in 1971 and Laura in 2012.
