Corporal Richard Cecil Henry Taylor (Service Nos:414095/NGX11/QP83812) initially served in the Militia (11 February 1935 - 25 May 1938) as a Gunner (Driver) with 11 Field Brigade 42 Field Battery. Corporal Taylor was 'in the field' in Rabaul NG when he enlisted in the AIF (19 January - 22 April 1940), and was attached to 2/1 Field Workshop - graded Fitter. Corporal Taylor then served in the Army with the Australian Army Service Corps (Service No:QP83182) until retirement.
Youngest of three (and only son), Richard was born in Brisbane QLD in 1914 to Henry (Harry) Taylor (b1875 in Yorkshire, England) and Emily Ellen Trout (b1877 in Brisbane, QLD). Harry immigrated in 1883, arriving in Brisbane with his parents and siblings on board the Roma. Harry and Emily married in 1901 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their family and Harry was a Railways Employee.
Richard worked as a Motor Mechanic before enlisting in the Army, and in 1941 in Brisbane married Hellen (Jean) Nancy Jean Bouchard (b1914 in Brisbane, QLD) - Jean was a Clerk in Brisbane. Jean lived in Toowoomba until the end of the War, and Richard and Jean then settled in Ashgrove in Brisbane, where they raised their family and Richard was a Soldier until retirement. Jean died in 1985 and Richard in 2005.
