Frederick John Thorogood was born 21st April, 1913 in Kelsey Creek to Arthur Henry & Margaret (Baldwin). Fred along with his brothers discovered Gold in the Kelsey Creek area. Fred was a cane farmer at Kelsey Creek, he retired to Cannonvale Beach & fished. He married Doris Noreen Loraine Monaghan on 29th March 1938. They had 2 sons, Leslie & Kevin & a daughter Joy. Fred passed away on 9th September, 1988.

The death of Frederick John Thorogood occurred at the hospital last Friday. The late Mr. Thorogood, who was 76 years of age, had not been in good health for some time. From Kelsey Creek originally, he and his wife had been living in retirement at Cannonvale, for a number of years. A keen sportsman in his younger days, the late Mr. Thorogood had represented Proserpine at tennis, for many years. His funeral took place on Monday, leaving St Paul's Anglican Church after service commencing at 4pm. Rev. A. Chauntler conducted the Church and graveside services.
