Denis was the sixth of nine children of George Joseph Tite (born 1874 in Staffordshire, England) and Mary Kenny (born 1879 in Lanarkshire, Scotland). George immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1884, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the Quetta. Mary immigrated with her parents in 1886, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the New Guinea. George was a Miner in Howard, Wide Bay in QLD when he married Mary in 1900. The family moved to Bundanba in Ipswich, QLD in the early 1900s, where George was a Coal Miner.

Denis was working as a Fruit Hawker in 1941 when he enlisted with the ACMF. He served as a Private (Service No:Q148286) with 18th Australian Field Ambulance, and was in New Guinea from 24 November 1943 to 1 June 1944, and from 24 August 1944 to 13 July 1945. Denis was Discharged in December 1945. Brother Francis (Private, Service No:Q108445) and Brothers-in-Law Ralph Davey (Lance Bombardier, Service No:VX42155) and Walter Cleveland Jarrett (Private, NX11747/QX32790) also served in WWII.

Denis, who remained a Bachelor, returned to Ipswich where he worked as a Hawker until his Death in 1977.
