Francis was the seventh of nine children of George Joseph Tite (born 1875 in Staffordshire, England) and Mary Kenny (born 1879 in Lanarkshire, Scotland). George immigrated with his parents and siblings in 1884, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the Quetta. Mary immigrated with her parents and siblings, arriving in Brisbane QLD in 1886 on board the New Guinea. George was a Miner at Howard, Wide Bay in QLD when he married Mary in 1900. In the early 1900s the family moved to Bundanba, in Ipswich, QLD where George was a Miner.

Francis was a Fruit Hawker in Bundanba, Ipswich, QLD when he enlisted in the ACMF in 1941. He was a Private (Service No:Q108445) attached to 47 Infantry Battalion when he was Discharged in 1946 (The 47 Infantry Battalion fought in the Salamaua Campaign in New Guinea). Brother Denis (Private, Service No:Q148286) and Brothers-in-Law Ralph Davey (Lance Bombardier, Service No:VX42155) and Walter Cleveland Jarrett (Private, Service Nos:NX11747/QX32790) also served in WWII.

In 1943 Francis married Lily Owens (born 1920 in Silkstone, Ipswich, QLD) and they settled in Ipswich where Francis was a Fruit Hawker. In the early 1950's Francis commenced work as a Winding Driver (in charge of the engine that raises and lowers personnel, rock and materials in coal mine shafts). Francis died in 1987 and Lily died in 2008.
