Ted was the third of nine children of Robert Tones (b1895 in Kilcoy, QLD) and Minnie Adsett (b1896 in Kilcoy, QLD). Robert - a Dairy Farmer - and Minnie married in 1920 in Kilcoy, QLD and settled at Sheep Station Creek where they raised their family.

Ted was a Dairy Farmer at Sheep Station Creek, Mt Kilcoy when he enlisted with the ACMF in July 1942. He was a Private (Service No:Q205476) attached to 6 Battalion VDC when he was Discharged in October 1945.

In 1947 Ted married Irene Joan Gulliford (b1927 in Kilcoy, QLD) and they settled at Mt Kilcoy where Ted was a Farmer. Ted died in 2002 and Irene in 2012.
