Stephen was the fourth of six children of George Treagle (a Confectioner, born in Ipswich, QLD in 1870) and Maria Elizabeth Pinney( born in Wellingborough, Northamtonshire in 1870).
Stephen lived in Ipswich, QLD and worked as a Carter before enlisting in the ACMF. Brother Thoams Joseph also served in the ACMF during WWII. Stephen continued to live in Ipswich, QLD and worked as a Truck Driver and died in 1992. He married Edna Philomena Molloy in 1959 in Ipswich, QLD
