Newman and Evelyn married in 1917 in Brisbane, where they settled and raised their son and Newman was a Butcher. Following Evelyn's death in 1942, Newman remarried in 1948 to Alice Elizabeth Trivett (b1894 in Brisbane, QLD) - Alice was a Teacher in Margate.

Dick worked as a Clerk in Bribane, and in 1945 married Margaret (Win) Winifred Webb (b1917 in Brisbane, QLD) - Win was a Typist. Dick and Win settled in Brisbane, where Dick was a Clerk (and Secretary of the Humpybong Sailing Club). In the mid 1960s they moved to Chevron Island in Surfers Paradise, where Dick was a Newsagent.
