Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

Son of Johannes VOLLMERHAUSE and Johanna nee SCHULZ, Maryborough, Qld.

He was ill at Lady Smith during his return from South Africa.  He had pneumonia and wanted to get off the boat at Curban but permission was refused.  He spent 5 months in Fort Franklin Hospital, about 40 miles from Melbourne, immediately after he returned.  Suffering from pneumonia an operation was performed on his lungs.
