Private John George West (Service No:QX11633) seved with the AIF from 27 March to 4 August 1941 and was attached to 7 Training Battalion at Discharge (Medically Unfit).

Born in 1914 in Ipswich QLD, Jack was fourth of five children of John Edwin West (b1877 in Northumberland, England) and Caroline Reay (b1881 in Northumberland, England). John (a Shipyard Labourer) and Caroline (a Domestic Servant) married in 1904 in Durham, England and in 1911 immigrated with their children, arriving in Brisbane, QLD on board the Torilla. John and Caroline settled in Ipswich, QLD where they raised their family and John worked as a Boilermaker's Assistant and Labourer.

Jack worked as a Labourer in Ipswich and was a Cane Cutter in Townsville, QLD when he enlisted in the Army in 1941. Following his Discharge, Jack settled in Townsville where in 1944, he married Phyllis May Paull (nee Dyer; b1921 in Townsville, QLD). Jack and Phyllis lived in Townsville and Cairns, where they raised their family and Jack was a Meat Worker and Carpenter. Jack died in 1970 and Phyllis in 1998.
