Clifton Sedunary was born in approximately OCtober 1895 in Adelaide. He worked as an engine driver in adult life and was married. He lived in Westbourne Park. He enlisted in the AIF on 29 December 1915 and was assigned to the 32nd Battalion. He embarked for overseas service on 27 June 1916.

In May 1917 he sprained his ankle which hospitalised him for weeks. He was gassed in the field on 21 March 1918 and was transferred to England for treatment. After recovery, he remained in England and returned to Australia in 1919.
