Stan was the second child of Douglas Harold Wild (born 1892 in Staffordshire, England) and Harriet Butler (born 1887 in Gympie, QLD). Douglas was a Carriage and Wagon Builder in 1912 when he immigrated to Brisbane, QLD on board the Osterley. He was working as a Wagon Builder in Ipswich, QLD when he married Harriet (a Pianist) in 1913. Douglas and Harriet lived in Ipswich until moving to Sherwood in Brisbane in the early 1920's where Douglas worked as a Carpenter.

Stan was a Letterpress Machinist living in Sherwood, Brisbane when he enlisted in April 1942. He was a Private (Service No:Q143578) attached to Army Reinforcements Reception Depot when he was Discharged in May 1943. Brother-in-Law Jack Bonney (Lance Bombardier; Service Nos:QX44869/Q11945) also served in WWII.

In May 1943 Stan married Dorothy Edith Hillier (born 1920 in Oxley, QLD) and they lived briefly at Sandgate where Stan was a Letterpress Machinist. By 1954 Stan and Dorothy had moved to Ipswich where Dorothy was Proprietoress of the Central Hotel and Stan worked as a Letterpress Machinist before becoming a Public Servant. Stan died in 1999 and Dorothy in 2005.
