Born in Bundaberg QLD on 30 Dec 1919 to Robert Bruce Wilson & Mary Jane 'Emma' Lowrey

He was employed as a Labourer with QLD Cement & Lime Co. & at age 22 he volunteered for active service in Brisbane joining the AIF as a Sapper in the Royal Australian Engineers on 22 Aug 1942

Following training & postings with ATTD, MV TTC, 25 AITB & 1 ARTB he posted to 2/5th Inf Bn briefly before transferring to 43 Landing Craft Coy

He was dett to 43 LCC serving with them in New Guinea from May 1945 during the final months of the Aitape–Wewak & Borneo campaigns before being allocated to 34 Brigade BCOF in Dec

He arrived at Kure Japan in Mar 1946 & dett for duty with 11 Small Ships Coy as a Fitter Mech

He was promoted CPL in Sep & posted to BCOF Base Workshop returning to Australia in May 1947 being discharged in Jun

He re-enlisted in the Army & was allocated to the Royal Australian Infantry Corps in Aug 1950 & posted 1st Battalion, Royal Australian Regiment

Allotted for duty in Korea he arrived in Japan in Sep 1950 then Pusan Korea posting to 3 RAR on the 28th

Appt L/CPL in Feb 1951 & T/CPL in Aug

He was with 3 RAR for all their major actions from Yongyu to Kapyong & Maryang-san

He returned to Japan in Mar 1952 & to Australia in Apr where he posted to 13th National Service Training Battalion in Nov

He transferred form Special Force Korea to the ARA in Aug 1953

Sadly, 2/8089 CPL Wilson of E Coy, 13 NSTB died at Burlington Hotel Sydney (suspected suicide) on 2 Feb 1955
