Private William Bruce Woods (Service Nos:QX35892/Q108102) enlisted in the ACMF on 6 October 1941 and served with 61st Infantry Battalion before enlisting in the AIF on 9 July 1942. He served in New Guinea (24 July 1942 to 12 November 1942 and 27 June 1943 to 4 December 1943) and was Discharged in May 1946.
The youngest of two children, Bill was born in 1921 in Ipswich, QLD to William (Billy) Arthur Woods (b1889 in Ipswich, QLD) and Margaret (Maggie) Prentice Walker (b1890 in Ipswich, QLD). Billy (a Pastry Cook) and Maggie married in 1914 in Ipswich QLD. The family lived in Ipswich where Billy was a Pastry Cook and in Southport where he worked as a Baker before settling in Brisbane QLD where he was a Storekeeper.
In 1948 Bill was a Pastry Cook in Brisbane QLD when he married Roile Margaret Brown (b1926 in Brisbane, QLD). Bill and Roile settled in Brisbane where Bill worked as a Pastry Cook, Car Attendant and Storeman. Bill died in 2014 and Roile in 2016.
