Joseph was the fifth of fourteen children of James Yarrow (born 1868 at Redbank Plains, Ipswich, QLD) and first wife Mary Titmarsh (born 1871 at Fassifern via Ipswich, QLD). James (a Farmer) and Mary married in 1890 and lived at Redbank Plains, Crow's Nest, Kalbar and Kent's Lagoon before settling at Bundanba in Ipswich. Following Mary's death in 1940, James remarried. He died in 1954.
A Farmer at Kent's Lagoon, Joseph married Jane Violet Stokes (born 1900 at Munbilla, Harrisville, QLD) in 1925 at Boonah via Ipswich, QLD.
In August 1941 Joseph enlisted with the ACMF (Private; Service No:Q89709). He was Discharged in January 1942. Brother Alex (Private; Service No:4798) served in WWI.
Joseph and Jane settled at Siverdale in Rosewood on the Darling Downs, QLD where Joseph was a Dairy Farmer. He died in 1977 and Jane in 1986.
