Biography

Stuart ROBERT

Born in Victoria, Stuart Robert grew up in Queensland attending local Primary and High Schools including Rockhampton Grammar School where he won a scholarship to attend the Australian Defence Force Academy. Following completion of his cadet training he attended the Royal Military College Duntroon, graduating as a Commissioned Officer in the Australian Army Intelligence Corps.

A career spanning 12 years followed with attachments in 3RAR, the 51st Battalion, The Far North Queensland Regiment and a deployment to Bougainville as part of a Peace Monitoring force following its Civil War. Much of his time in service was focused on military intellgence and security.

In 2007 Robert was elected to the House of Representatives representing the seat of Fadden.

In December 2009, Robert was appointed Shadow Parliamentary Secretary for Defence.

September 2010 he was promoted to Shadow Minister for Defence, Science, Technology and Personnel.

Following the Abbott Government win in the 2013 federal election appointed the Assistant Minister for Defence.

21 September 2015  appointed to Minister for Veterans' Affairs, Minister for Human Services and Minister Assisting the Prime Minister for the Centenary of ANZAC.
