Son of Robert WHELAN of 136 Senate Road, Port Pirie, SA

Husband of Lola jean WHELAN of 70 Railway Terrace, Solomontown, SA.

Educated at St Mark's Port Pirie, John was interested in boxing.  He enlisted at 19 years of age in the RAN.  His brother Robert is in the 2nd AIF.
