Mr. William James Adams, 'Hill View Farm,' Jamestown, who died suddenly on Friday, August 2, was born at Clare 61 years ago, where he spent his youth, and afterwards followed farm ing. He took part in the Boer War, with the 4th Bushman's contingent, under Colonel Rowell. From 1904 to 1908 he worked on the farm at Belalie East with the late Mr. W. Russell, and at different periods worked for Messrs. Kinnane, Richardson, Jas. Goodes, and P. Jones. About 20 years ago he went to work for the late Mr. Malcolm McLeod at 'Hill View,' and had remained there since. In the latter years he was share farming with the Misses McLeod. He was a fine horse man, but took no active part in public matters or sport. He was unmarried. South African war veterans acted as pallbearers at the funeral.
