"The death took place at Wangaratta of a well-known and highly respected resident of Boomahnoomoonah, in the person of Mr. David Anderson, aged 65 years. The late Mr. Anderson was born at Somerton, and came to this district with his parents, the late Andrew and Elizabeth Anderson, who settled at Boomahnoomoonah, 62 years ago. As a young man he learned the trade of blacksmith, his employer being the late Mr. B. Cross, of Wilby. He volunteered for the South African war, and served as a sergeant farrier in the Light Horse. On his return he again took up his trade, and set up a smithy at South Bundalong, which he carried on until becoming ill about four months ago." - from the Goulburn Valley Stock and Properety journal 27 May 1942 (nla.gov.au)
