Biography contributed by Faithe Jones

“Wellington Times, Thursday 16th of April 1936, Page 2”-

“Many residents of Wellington will regret to hear of the death of James Apps, A.A.F.C, of the 1st Cavalry Division, which took place at the Marrickville District Hospital last week as the result of an accident. Captain Apps was Warrant Officer at Orange for some years, with headquarters at the Drill Hall, and later removed to Sydney, where he was in charge of a military depot. When alighting from a tram in the city he was struck by a motor car, the serious nature of the injuries eventually causing his death. He was well known in Wellington, to which town he made many visits in connection with the Wellington troop of the Light Horse. He was born at Bathurst where he lived for many years with his parents.”
