John Barker was born around 1853 at Staffordshire, England, a son to John Barker. He trained under his father for his trade as a plumber before venturing to Australia. When he enlisted in 1901 in the 5th QIB he noted his N.O.K. as his father J. Barker, Warwickshire, England. He served on the Brisbane Water & Sewerage Board for many years and was last living at Auchenflower, Brisbane. He was married and had 2 children.
